The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of weekly repetitions of a lower limb, hip, and trunk training menu for a total of 14 weeks on the physical performance and health-related quality of life of elderly residents in a gymnastics class for elderly residents in the community. Seven physical fitness tests, including eye-opening one-leg stand and leg extension, and the 12-item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-12), a health-related quality of life scale, were used as pre- and post-intervention assessment items. The results showed significant improvements in functional reach and tandem walking in the physical fitness test, and in vitality in the SF-12.
