There have been numerous reports of children's disturbed lifestyles, late bedtimes, and shortened sleeping hours. It has also been reported that the secretion pattern of melatonin, an important indicator of biological rhythm, has been disrupted. In this study, we measured salivary melatonin concentrations in 44 fifth-grade students (22 boys and 22 girls) and administered a questionnaire survey on various lifestyle conditions to examine lifestyle factors related to the children's melatonin secretion patterns.
