The effects of adequate exercise on sleep and temperature fluctuations were examined in 14 healthy male subjects. The results showed that exercise significantly increased slow-wave activity with a subsequent increase in nocturnal DPG (degree of heat dissipation). It is possible that post-exercise slow-wave sleep contributes to the process of lowering body temperature via heat dissipation by peripheral cutaneous blood vessels.
