The 39th Spring Kazo Conference of the Japanese Society of Health Education for Children at the Heisei International University (Turning into a virtual meeting)
Kae Karasawa, Kosuke Tanabe, Akiko Kano, Shingo Noi This study examined the relationship between classroom seating, sleep status, and melatonin secretion patterns in 83 second-year junior high school students (48 boys and 35 girls) at school, using a crossover design with seat changes. The results showed lower melatonin (morning) and higher melatonin (night-morning) in the window-side group compared to the control group, which was seated on the hallway side. These results suggest that classroom seating may advance the phase of circadian rhythm.
