It has been reported that even on the day following sufficient nighttime sleep, daytime sleepiness occurs due to the effects of the 12-hour biological rhythm. During the time period when daytime sleepiness occurs (14:00-17:00), various performance decrement phenomena are observed. Therefore, in this study, we examined the effects of prophylactic napping as a countermeasure against daytime sleepiness in seven healthy male university students with an exercise habit, after ensuring that they had adequate nighttime sleep.
