MHLW Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Intractable Diseases: A Study of Physician-Led Clinical Trials on a New Medical Device, a Leg-Worn Assistive Robot Voluntarily Controlled by Bioelectric Potential (HAL-HN01), for the Treatment of Rare and Intractable Diseases

Summary

As for the clinical trial of HAL, a robot for lower limbs, the target patients are those with walking disabilities, and holistic care by a team of medical and nursing professionals is necessary. In addition, in introducing PRO (Patient Reported Outcome) as part of the evaluation of this clinical trial, the understanding of the medical professionals involved and the patients themselves is essential to improve the quality of care. As a public relations team consisting of patient support groups, doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, we conducted educational activities targeting medical professionals.
