The purpose of this study was to analyze the activities of daily living (ADL) among inpatients on admission to a rehabilitation hospital. Between December 1996 and December 1997, we investigated the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) of 201 (70.3%) out of 286 adult inpatients at Ibaraki Prefectural University hospital (a rehabilitation hospital).
