We investigated the differences in recirculation rate and oxygenation between single and dual cannulation during circulatory support at various blood pump flow rates. The recirculation rates at 4 L/min were 21±4% and 36±6% in the single and dual cannulation groups, respectively. At 20 minutes, arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) at 4 L/min was 159.6±29.8 mmHg in the single cannulation group and 139.0±11.5 mmHg in the dual cannulation group. We reported that while single cannulation resulted in a lower recirculation rate, it may lead to insufficient oxygenation at 2 L/min.
