Double-lumen catheters (DLCs), such as the Avalon-DLC, used for circulatory support for respiratory assistance offer several advantages. However, post-experimental observation in adult goats revealed hematoma formation (approximately 1-2 cm) in the venous or right atrial wall in two out of six cases around the DLC outflow orifice. In both cases, the hematoma was extensively present in the subendothelial tissue, with one case extending to the epicardial side. Although angiography suggested appropriate placement in both cases, it was considered that the actual position was higher than intended, leading to hematoma formation.
