Seishu HANAOKA assigned unique names for 14 classes of paste preparations in his medical books.These names were quoted from the Li Jing’s tactical formation of 12 signs of Chinese zodiac; “Shierchenzhentu” in the Wubeizhi. The Seishu’s 14 classes of the paste preparations were the combinations of the oriental concept in the military strategy and the European treatment theory.
