Summary

Tamai,H.Shimazaki,K.Seo,N.
Eight-weeks-old rats were subjected to acupuncture at the acupoints of Neiguan, Renzhong, and Sanyinjiao, which are commonly used for stroke treatment, and the number of cell proliferation in the hippocampal dentate gyrus and lateral ventricles was observed using BrdU immunohistochemistry. Compared to the anesthesia-only control group, the number of cell proliferation in the hippocampal dentate gyrus was significantly increased in the acupuncture group. However, no significant difference was observed in the lateral ventricle. The hippocampal dentate gyrus may be more sensitive to the acupuncture stimulation than the lateral ventricle.
