Commerce and intercultural contact

This chapter investigates the business of the Harford family, especially Edward Harford and John Scandrett Harford. It is shown that the Harford family’s business was mainly banking, the metal industry and European trade in the later eighteenth century. They participated in several main and flourishing industries in Britain, particularly Bristol. It was reasonable business strategy.
