Summary

A polysulfone membrane dialyzer with "NV Polymer Coating" manufactured by Toray Industries, Inc. has been released. We compared its blood compatibility with the conventional uncoated polysulfone membrane. It was reported that there was no significant difference in platelet count after 4 hours of blood circulation. Additionally, after the experiment, observation of the hollow fibers inside the dialyzer using a scanning electron microscope showed a higher amount of platelet adhesion in the NV-coated group. It was reported that the group without NV coating had superior antithrombotic properties.
Personal Contribution: I was responsible for the research planning, data collection and analysis, and the preparation of the abstract and slides.
